Future Spaces Chilmington Green

Published: 20/01/2023

Dive into a creative discussion about the Garden Community Room and the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Park. Comment on early concepts and help to make these spaces and places serve local communities for the long term. We will also be sharing plans for improvements to public rights of way. Key projects within Chilmington Green (part of the South of Ashford Garden Community) being discussed are:

  • The Garden Community Room (a small off-grid and sustainably built community venue to be shared with Chilmington Green Primary)
  • The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Park (formerly Discovery Park) early masterplanning of open spaces
  • PROW improvements across Chilmington Green in 2023 being led by KCC

Phil Simpson (People + Place Architects) is leading the design of the GC Room. He will be there with creative activities for people to engage with. He is keen to involve local people in choosing the right sustainable materials for the build and to help define the potential uses for the space once in operations this summer. Some sketches, drawings and plans for the GC Room, along with the future park and footways will be on display with Council officers on hand to answer questions.

There will be two workshop dates, first up is Saturday 28th January 13.00 to 16.30 at Great Chart Village Hall, then a follow-up event to build on the first. That will be on Saturday 25th February. They are both drop in style so people can come and go as they like within the afternoon.

Drop in between these times where there will be materials to interact with and those leading the projects on hand to answer questions. Tea/coffee provided.
